Wonderland Makarora Lodge

Amazing place with great amenities like free wi-fi, parking, and a cozy coffee shop. Staff even helped with local delivery recommendations on my first stay. I loved that! I'll be back for a weekend.

Stunning setting in the lovely area, very close to Wanaka, Hawea and hiking trails and the west coast off the road. Again, 5 minutes walk from Wilkin River Jets.

The hotel was located short walk to the outlet, New Zealand, and the rainforest. Everything was great, yet a few employees were so relaxed. The room was functional & great-sized, came with awesome views and ample space, for instance. The location was comfortable and handy, far too late that the restaurant had reopened. The casual restaurant onsite had light dishes

The location was fine, surrounded by beautiful mountains and lush nature, perfect for stargazing at night. The kitchenette had all the essentials for a night, and the outdoor bathtubs were a unique feature, albeit needing cleaning before use. Unfortunately, limited kitchen supplies and some cleanliness issues detracted from the experience, particularly the dirty bathtubs and a not-so-fresh smell in the room. The lack of staff was good, but the cozy atmosphere and cleanliness of the linens were appreciated.

The location was peaceful, right next to a valley and a park. The hotel was a great base for enjoying a cute area. Stocked and well heated units with ample space, WiFi, for instance, and the staff were extremely helpful.

The outdated facilities, noisy water heater, and insufficient kitchen supplies left us wanting more comfort. Even simple things like separate taps for hot and cold in the bathroom are frustrating!!!

For a cozy experience, try grabbing coffee from reception and enjoy it outdoors with the fine mountain backdrop.

The beautiful location showcased the fine mountain views. The spacious chalet provided ample room for everyone.

The communal kitchen was poorly stocked and required maintenance. The outdated facilities impacted our overall comfort , leaving us wanting more.

The setting of Wonderland Makarora Lodge captivated me instantly. Surrounded by lush bush and fine mountain views, mornings felt magical with birdsong echoing through the air. My unit provided warmth and comfort, the bed was particularly cozy, perfect for a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring. Enjoying a Nespresso coffee in the morning was a good touch. I encountered some issues. The curtains in my unit didn't fully cover the windows was nice. The kitchenette lacked sufficient supplies. I had to rewash a few dishes before using them, inconvenient. Plus, the office had limited check-in hours, arriving after hours meant my key was merely taped to the door, and I wasn't informed about restaurant closures ahead of time. While the location and comfort of the bed were good, attention to kitchen and privacy details is essential for a better experience.

the fridge in the room was too small for our needs. but the amazing mountain views from the unit were breathtaking! the swimming pool was perfect for cooling off, and the friendly staff helped us with our dinner order.

The cozy room had everything we needed, body soap, electric blankets, kitchenette with microwave, and a private bathroom. Enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool. The bed was super comfy, and we loved the beautiful view from the window.

Nothing is too much trouble at Wonderland Makarora Lodge, 100% recommend it to anyone. It's an excellent base for one night.- The hotel boasts a remote location close to nature.- At the main bar, they serve decent food and drinks.
